Deathblah…because most WoW players lack originality

Monday, November 17th, 2008

While I was not surprised (I would be a fool to be surprised) it was highly annoying to see just how many unoriginal variations of DeathINSERTSOMETHINGHERE there were for Death Knights.  What.  The.  Hell.  I mean I know I’ve seen names for paladins and druids that reflect the class, but I can guarantee that Death-genre names are at an all time high.  Or Deth.  Or variations of Arthas.

For a while I was thinking I must have been the only original named character in the zone.  On Bronzebeard, I named my character Rosea, based off of a roleplay character of mine from the pen and paper days.  When I found that name was unavailable on Whisperwind, I went with Kerea (It was supposed to be Kera, but it was taken).

The annoyance level I have for silly names like this will likely not fade off any time soon, as DKs are going to be everywhere in game as everyone levels them up, no matter the server.  DKs with Death, Deth, Arthas…whatever in your names, do the world a favor and get a character name change.  For the love of all that is right and good in this world.  You’re playing a roleplay game.  Believe me, there are no RP worlds where Death names are regular names for characters.

On that note, our server had a DK hit 80 last night before I logged off.  He was getting so much crap in general and trade chat because “He must not have a life or Gf”, but you know what, congrats to him.  He stuck with leveling and got through it…and I bet he’s a few k in gold richer than he was before he made the DK.  I’m pretty sure the kids in general and trade are just jealous little shits.  Yes.  I just called you out.  Because remember, if you’re playing this game, you have absolutely -no- right to be giving anyone shit about “not having a life”.  Guess what.  Neither do you.  Deal with it.

Personally, I think racing to the top is not a lot of fun.  You miss out on the content.  You miss out on the fun.  At the same time, it’s a rush.  A guildmate hit the max in JC and was realm first.  I thought that was pretty cool.  I just wish I had the time and the lack of ADD to be able to focus that long to do that.

Either way, rant mode off, I’ll be back later with my impressions of the DK starting zone, the whole scenario there and my impressions of The Nexus and Uthgarde Keep.

Cheers!

No, I’m not being nice and buying it for my boyfriend….

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

So, after work today (and after a much needed nap), I made my way to Best Buy to purchase Wrath of the Lich King. Needless to say, I was impressed to see a huge table with a bunch of copies of the game (considering I had called 3 places before Best Buy and found they were all sold out; BB had 400 copies still, or so they said).

Without hesitating I walk up to the table, lift up the first few copies and grab a copy from the back and head for the checkout line. As I walk that way, I hear a younger lad make the comment to his girlfriend. “See, she came to pick up the game for her boyfriend by herself. I don’t see why you couldn’t do it.”

I paused, for a split second, turned and said “Screw my boyfriend, the game is for me. He picked his up at lunch and didn’t get me a copy,” turned and walked away.

Seriously? What is it with people thinking that girls don’t play WoW. We do. I’m not gonna propagate the stupid lie of “Girls don’t exist on the internet. They are a lie.” Of course we do.

Either way, I gave into the fangirlness and got the game tonight and am installing it now. Impressions soon to come.
