FRAG Showing March 11 at PAX East

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

FRAG will be showing as part of the activities Friday, March 11, at PAX East.

A little more than two years after the initial premiere of FRAG at the American Film Institute’s International Film Festival in Dallas, FRAG will be showing at PAX East, Friday, March 11, at 9:30 p.m. at the Naga Theatre in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

A documentary covering the lives of pro-gamers, FRAG sheds light on the world of pro-gaming.  Pro-gamers, referred to as cyber-athletes, face the same problems that professional athletes face, making decisions that can affect them for the rest of their lives.  As gaming spreads not only as a hobby, but as a profession, FRAG reveals some of the secrets behind one of the biggest sports industries in the world that many know nothing about.

“If you ever wanted to be a pro-gamer, or have friends or family contemplating the same, then you must see this film,” said Mark Bell in his review on Film Threat.

FRAG has been screened at a number of venues, but this is the first time at PAX since the movie was released in 2008.

Judd Saul, executive producer; will be on hand to answer questions after the screening and during the event.

Copies of the movie will be available for purchase after the screening.  Copies can also be purchased directly through the FRAG website at www.fragmovie.com.

Tickets for PAX East can be purchased at www.paxsite.com.

‘King of Chinatown’ Screening at PAX East

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

King of Chinatown is having the first screening of 2011 at PAX East, Saturday, March 12, at 9:30 p.m. at the Naga Theatre in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

“King of Chinatown” documents the two year journey of professional video game player Justin Wong as he, along with his manager, TriForce, attempt to make a career of gaming in the competitive Street Fighter 4 scene. As Justin begins to move through the ranks, both good friends and past rivals step up in an attempt to take his spot. Will the pressure to make it to the top prove to be too much for Justin, TriForce and their company, Empire Arcadia? If you think you know the whole story, “King of Chinatown” will take you behind the scenes and reveal the truth of what happened between Justin and “The Empire”. If you are new to this world, their story will capture your attention and open your eyes to a growing culture as you are guided through it via the real life of one of the scenes top players.

King of Chinatown has been screened only a few times at events, including the premiere event in New York City at the Anthology Film Archives, at Big Bang 2010 as part of the International Video Game Hall of Fame inaugural event, and at an event at Montclair State University. The movie has been submitted to a number of independent film festivals as well.

Jordan Levinson, producer/editor; Calvin Theobald, producer/director; Adrian Romero, cinematographer; and Illych O Reyes will be on hand to answer questions after the screening and during the event.
